
The WORLD CURLING FEDERATION (WCF) is pleased to announce and sponsor an Umpire Course for Young Adults
IN PREPARATION FOR THE OLYMPIC YOUTH GAMES
This course is intended to introduce young adults to the role and duties of curling umpires in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Youth Games (OYG) to be held in Austria. If you are over 21, have a basic knowledge of curling and are interested in being an umpire at the OYG, this course is for you. Two top international umpires (Eeva Roethlisberger – Switzerland and Alan Stanfield – Scotland) will teach the course which will include a review of the rules, the responsibilities of an umpire, the correct procedure to measure stones in the house, time keeping and the do’s and don’ts of officiating. Time will be spent on the ice so bring warm clothing and proper footwear (curling shoes with gripper).
REGISTRATION FEE: Euro 20.00 – includes Saturday’s lunch & all course material. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and hotel. Details on the recommended hotel (reasonable prices) will be forwarded upon acceptance.
DATES Saturday 30 (09:00 – 18:00) – Sunday 31 (09:00 – 12:00) January 2010.
LOCATION Classroom and ice sessions in Kitzbühel, Austria.
